It’s a common secret but I’ve kept this to myself for as long as I could. It’s time to tell my Sistahs and just live in my truth. I HAVE A BIG SWEET TOOTH! Not the ordinary piece of butterscotch hard candy type sweet tooth. I have the kind of sweet tooth that craves cakes and pies and cupcakes and fruit-filled donuts and the chocolate éclairs type of sweet tooth. After reading a few self-help books and scanning the internet for information about this crazy craving, I’ve discovered that my sweet tooth is actually an addiction! Imagine that! I am addicted to sugar! It’s taken 50+ years to realize this and to get a grip on it. My life will NOT be taken over by chocolate covered fudge brownies! I refuse to be defeated by birthday cake. Get thee behind me, rocky road ice cream.
Here’s an article that helped me put things in perspective: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=289&utm_source=sparkpeople&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=email-generic. It came in my email and I know it’s sorta lengthy, but it is well worth the read if you have a gargantuan sweet tooth like me.
So ladies, now you’ll understand and not hold it against me, when I politely decline that pineapple upside down cake or that huge chunk of strawberry shortcake. When I tell you that I’m taking a piece home for the hubby . . . that’s not entirely true. He may get some of it, yes. But if I wrap it up loosely and carry it in my hand to the car, it has a 75% chance of not making the trip home. LOL!
